I heard the new song this morning. I kind of like the tune and beat, but the words are really, really immature. I feel like at some point, she should be showing some personal growth and I'm just seeing it. At what point does she decide that she's done calling out ex-boyfriends and rival singers and actually sing about something real and not shallow? (and no, not some jealous hater, just think that when a person is putting their lifestyle and their work out in the public eye, it is our right to form opinions about it.)
+1 She has not demonstrated any emotional or artistic growth. She is a 28 year old mega successful artist and business woman. Surely she views the world as the complex ecosystem that it is. I do not sense that from her music. She seems perpetually stuck at 16 screaming revenge on mean girls who steal her man. GROW UP.
+1000. I think you nailed it here. Like you said, she's extremely successful and has accomplished a lot. And yet, her music (more particularly the topics of her music) don't seem to reflect that? The flaw in this will catch with her at some point.
