Because of her parents' terrible divorce. There was cheating on both sides and it deeply scarred her. Diana bought into the fairytale as much as anyone. You know, she was only 18 when she started courting Charles, and 19 when she married. Teenagers are dramatic and she saw this as a huge betrayal. Understandable, really.[/quote]

+1 yes remember we didn't have the internet back then.  I remember being in HIGH SCHOOL talking with my girlfriends about what a penis must look like; we all didn't know and couldn't figure out the mechanics of it.  My point is, you can't assume she knew about Camilla or that many royals cheat--it was just a different world back then, and as PP said, she "bought into the fairytale as much as anyone."  We all did.

And think further back, how JFK was fooling around and the press was hiding it from the public.  It is easy for me to believe that Diana was naive, and I suspect it would be hard for my 14 y.o. DD to believe that when hearing the story.[/quote]
