But the problem the way I see it is that someone need only claim that they are transgendered to be treated as such.  They do not need to prove that they are under a doctor's care/taking hormones etc.  And while I think it is HIGHLY unlikely that a boy is going to pretend to be transgendered just to sneak into the girls' restroom, I can easily see how a confused, mentally unstable teen might think they are transgendered (since there is so much attention/publicity about it now) when they probably really aren't.

It's a lot more complex than you imagine.  A kid who is transgender doesn't just decide one day to be the other gender and the school says "welcome to the girls' locker room."  Investigate the process before you let your fear take over logic.[/quote]
