I used to work local law enforcement and FBI would come out once in a while. They appeared to be very professional, but all the guys thought they were kind of a joke. I'm sure most are decent people, but a lot of these people have low self esteem. They are brainwashed in the academy and told how great they are. It would be a LOT easier if you knew someone working at one of these agencies. Other agencies have more ability to move laterally. I'm pretty sure that FBI has Agents...and most everyone else is beneath them.  There are so many pros and cons to these jobs and agencies that I can see how it's a daunting task.

Regarding weed, I think it varies by agency. I know that some require you to be clean for about 2 years. Law enforcement used to be VERY inflexible with weed. When you get involved in the hiring process, you really need to play it smart. The polygraph is a joke if you are somewhat savvy. I would probably just stay away from the weed if she is serious about this.[/quote]
