So, if a curse word is said out of surprise or pain, or even to colorfully punctuate a sentence, in ok with that. Anything directed at someone is not ok. One also has to consider where they are, so cursing is a no-go at school or temple, for example, or in a place where the rule is no cursing, like my cousin's house. DH likes to tell a story about a time when his ex was listening to his side of a phone conversation with his mom. (They were about 19 years old.)
