Don't be ignorant and rude. I don't know a single girl with a nick name Alex, not one.  And I have lived here for over 20 years, nor do I know it in Slavic countries, where Alexander is Sasha.  You live in some small world, don't you? How many other girls with the nick name Alex do you know apart from your own? Do tell.[/quote]

I'm OP.  (And I'm not either of the PPs.)  But FYI, PP, Alex as a nickname for a girl (for Alexandra or Alexandria or Alesandra or Alexis or probably other names) is SUPER common.  Which is why I was thinking my little Alice (girl) might be mistaken for Alex (girl), because in my experience, Alex (for girls) is a more common name than Alice.[/quote]
