So he was first helped up, which is NOT IDEAL, then told to get down, and that's when he had great difficulty doing so. Perhaps he fell harder than they intended, but the protocol is that the protectee has to be secured at all costs, so shoving and bruising a protectee is definitely allowed in life and death situations. Since he needs to lie to himself constantly to make himself feel better, that's probably why in his mind he didn't "fall".
