Then claims that they can't bring the person back. WTH is this? They can't or won't fix their error? Is this the state of the US justice system? https://wtop.com/maryland/2025/04/trump-administration-concedes-maryland-father-from-el-salvador-was-mistakenly-deported-and-sent-to-mega-prison/
What effect does this have on you? Seriously: why do you care? This has no effect whatsoever on you or anyone you know.
DP. It has an effect on me that I live in a country and raise my child in a country where literally anyone can be grabbed off the street and sent to an El Salvadoran prison and then government can stand in front of a judge and say “oopsie!”. A better question is how *don’t* you care.
This. I’m here because my grandparents fled countries where this happened. They’d be appalled at it happening here. We all should be.
No, I was appalled when Biden and the DNC just opened the doors and invited ten million unvetted poverty cases in.
They are only “unvetted” if they do not apply for asylum. Increasing asylum processing was a way to vet them and ensure that we can track them and that they are not criminals. Republicans refuses to find that process. You are being conned by Trump.
Asylum was denied for this Man. He ignored that.
But he got a separate court order saying he could stay. And the government admitted it. You can’t have it all ways. Look, I am not saying he has a God-given right to be here. But he does have a right for the judge to decide, and for processes in our constitution and statutes to apply. We all do. That’s what due process is. If the government doesn’t have to follow that for him, they don’t have to follow it for you. And if you are truly ok with the latter, then you either don’t understand it, or are an authoritarian and fascist at heart. Because that’s what fascism is. The government deciding it can break the law if it wants to. The government admitted it wrongly deported him. Yet they insist they can’t fix that, which is untrue. Both are the problem here - that they are acting in ways that drastically increase the likelihood of making mistakes, and that they are unwilling to fix them when ordered to do so. None of us are safe from this. According to their theories, they can deport your citizen grandmother and your citizen infant, and you. And none of us can stop it or do anything about it. You just have to hope it don’t happen. Myself, I’d rather rely on laws than hope.
