I agree with others that they should have resolved it by declaring it a tie and awarding the Romanian gymnast a bronze as well. I absolutely felt awful for her when Chiles petition was successful and knocked her off the podium even though I do think it was the correct decision (Chiles absolutely deserved credit for the move in question and it was annoying that they didn't give it to her in the team final either -- she does it well and I don't get why they wouldn't just give her points for it).

It's crap like this that makes people roll their eyes at gymnastics even though the athletes are clearly amazing. It frankly should not be possible -- this is a judge inserting a subjective assessment into what they are trying to make an objective scoring system and it's BS.[/quote]

I really dislike the judging aspect of many Olympic sports.  I just don’t see how the difficulty level of a routine is so subjective that they could leave off a move she did.[/quote]
