+1 It was all handled so very poorly by the judges.
Even the resolution has been handled poorly. The bronze should be shared. Its what Romanian has called for as well. This isn't on the girls or even the coaches.
PP here. Absolutely yes. And, frankly, if someone has been told he/she won, then the award should not be taken away -- but shared if a mistake were made.
Nobody was told they won. The gymanst saw the score flash and started celebrating. Everyone knows what the rules are before the competition. They didn’t just find out you could file an inquiry to review a score. It happens.
Then the scoreboard shouldn't put participants in order.
The participants know damn well how it works. Been to a gymnastics meet before? Even one time?
Doesn't make it right. Have a lovely evening.

I agree with others that they should have resolved it by declaring it a tie and awarding the Romanian gymnast a bronze as well. I absolutely felt awful for her when Chiles petition was successful and knocked her off the podium even though I do think it was the correct decision (Chiles absolutely deserved credit for the move in question and it was annoying that they didn't give it to her in the team final either -- she does it well and I don't get why they wouldn't just give her points for it).
It's crap like this that makes people roll their eyes at gymnastics even though the athletes are clearly amazing. It frankly should not be possible -- this is a judge inserting a subjective assessment into what they are trying to make an objective scoring system and it's BS.

Anonymous wrote:How can they lower Jordan’s score because the inquiry was late but also be considering the Romanian’s challenges now?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What’s ridiculous is every other gymnast has 4 minutes to file an inquiry, but since Jordan went last, she only had 1 minute, and they missed that deadline by 4 seconds.
+1 Why did the judges take Jordan's score inquiry if it was 4 seconds after the 1-minute deadline? None of the judges realize it at that time?
