I’m a woman who was born and raised in a district with a 9/1 cutoff. My Bday is in late November and the advantage of that become more obvious as the years went on, and was blatantly obvious in college. My niece, also in a district with a 9/1 cutoff, has a 9/5 bday. I hope that will be an advantage for her.
IDK. I was in a 12/1 cutoff born 12/4 and it was a huge disadvantage overall, looking back. Sure, in later years to some extent academically, but socially it was rough initially. I felt like I was surrounded by babies in Kindergarten! Nap time and help with butt wiping? Wut?! Someone later advised my parents on this issue and said generally, "push the girls and hold the boys" and that resonated as true for me. The combination of "gifted" academically/kind of precocious and older than peers isn't great in my experience.
