UVA will be sued, but it will be because they dragged their feet dismissing the shooter after he had those charges, not because a professor invited all the students from her other classes on this trip.[/quote]

They were notified only 2 weeks ahead of the shooting.  Do you know the admin process behind dismissing/Ex matriculation? Next time they will get sued for doing it too hasty.  What is the appropriate time and process to take place?  These were off campus charges.

I completely get it on the emotional level (right there with you), but you do not want your judicial system to judge on emotions.  You got to proof negligence to dismiss timely in light of what level of threat.  This sounds cold I get it and one can advocate for changes made in light of this tragedy.
