If the police are armed and refuse to go in, why do they exist at all? We’re getting flooded with conservative f sticks who want to distract both from the despair over our gun laws and this unbelievable example of police cowardice/indifference. It’s not being an armchair expert to believe your own eyes and ears at this point.
Police are not required to protect us. Why do they exist? It is an excellent question. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_of_Castle_Rock_v._Gonzales
Yes, I’m with you. I live in a huge city where the police budget makes the public school budget weep with envy. Every time I’m on the train, I see cops - not on the platform - playing Candy Crush in duos, logging onto Bumble. Never ‘policing.’ Never. I live close to two recent national-level story of subway shootings. It’s the same song, always a different day. The department does not increase safety, and certainly doesn’t prevent homicides. I’m tired of all the lying. I mean, here we have scads of video showing desperate, anguished parents being prevented from going in to save their babies. The police did nothing. And per the Both Sidesism of DCUM, there are countless liars here merrily pushing the narrative of how we just can’t know all the facts, the police did their jobs, how would you like their jobs? We arm them to hurt us in peacetime, and they look at an active massacre, with their own weapons, and demur, “No thanks.” Good luck, second graders.
