The overwhelming majority of posts on this thread is ridiculous. The reasons given by parents and students alike for writing off schools are silly.
Brats and their striver 'cool moms' parading around on college visits so they can boast they "toured" schools their kid probably can't even get into is in itself ridiculous. Of course it comes with 'hating' the school for stupid reasons; campus felt dead during a generic tour (tour was in the summer), food was crummy, randomly saw a group of students that triggered them, or their tour guide was lame. The entire theater of all of this is so pathetic. Not to mention we're talking about colleges that can cost upwards of $300,000 for four years. Imagine taking a teen to the local Ferrari or Bentley dealership. Pick the one you want, sweetheart. Yeah, I agree, the wheels on that Bentley are awful, so that's a no-go. And the Ferrari dealership's free cappuccino was bad, so we're not buying a car there. The vibe of the Aston Martin showroom was weird, so I don't want one of those cars mommy.
