I’m the 23:13 poster and yes we did decline a Latin spot. Yes I do know a family that declined Basis. I also know many families that wanted DCI as their top choice who did not play the lottery in 5th at all. Also if you think all families in feeders are fed employees or can’t afford private or parochial, then you are wrong. I can think of 3 families alone in my kids close group of friends in addition to ourselves. I can think of 2 or 3 other families off the top of my head. Doesn’t matter if you believe me or not. Feel free to call me a booster to try to suit the narrative you want. But there are many families like us who choose to live EOTP and not WOTP to be closer to downtown, have our kids be in a more diverse school environment, and are fine with our current school options of immersion and then at DCI.
DCI over Latin Cooper is not unreasonable.
DCI over any Latin is reasonable if you care about academics.
That is demonstrably false. More kids are below grade level in ELA and math (especially the latter) at DCI than either Latin. Here are the latest CAPE results for 4+: Latin 2nd St ELA 73.1 Math 56.3 Latin Cooper ELA 64.4 Math 50.2 DCI ELA 49.8 Math 26.5
