Also if you think all families in feeders are fed employees or can’t afford private or parochial, then you are wrong. I can think of 3 families alone in my kids close group of friends in addition to ourselves. I can think of 2 or 3 other families off the top of my head.
Doesn’t matter if you believe me or not. Feel free to call me a booster to try to suit the narrative you want. But there are many families like us who choose to live EOTP and not WOTP to be closer to downtown, have our kids be in a more diverse school environment, and are fine with our current school options of immersion and then at DCI.
Why even play the lottery at if your sold on DCI?
We also played the lottery, won a spot at Walls, and then turned it down. The reason we played is because we wanted our kid to go through the application process and decide for themselves if DCI is the right place for them.
That’s completely different. Latin is purely lottery. Walls has an application process so I could see the benefit of going through that process. PP insists that DCI is so amazing but then tries to lottery for Latin.
Different poster- Latin is a better school for middle of the road average IQ learners. DCI is not good if kid is a middle of the road learner. It’s big and it’s mostly geared for high achievers and bringing up the button. Walls is great for kids strong in humanities, not good if you’re considering European colleges or are a math/science kid.

It’s common knowledge that the high performing kids go to Basis.
I would agree that Latin draws more the average kid.

Who cares about CAPE scores at DCI when middle school kids can take advanced math and get grouped in science and social studies classes with high achievers? In the high school, classes are tracked. We can't afford a private, didn't get into BASIS or a Latin and don't want to move, so we make the best of the situation.
If the classes are tracked, and you have a big enough cohort to stay advanced, then I agree, CAPE scores are irrelevant.

DCI over Latin Cooper is not unreasonable.
DCI over any Latin is reasonable if you care about academics.
