Can somebody who shares the viewpoint and values of the woman and her wife answer this - how were they hoping that the interaction would end?
I'm sure they would have been okay with getting a ticket, maybe having to pay a fine. Maybe spend some time in jail. Those are the normal consequences for civil disobedience, not getting killed.
If the car had stayed in park, that’s probably all that would have happened.
Not with the way the first agent reached inside her door. There was no guarantee of their safety.
But obviously everyone’s safety was not their goal, or they would never have been there at all. How did the women want it to end?
No. It was a peaceful protest. No one was the tiniest bit unsafe, until ICE stumbled by.
She hit the officer with her car. Not exactly peaceful.
No. It was a peaceful protest and no violence was planned or carried out. Even if she did hit the officer, which I doubt, he was in the wrong for walking in front of her car. She was clearly turning her wheels to drive away. Driving away from the men who were yelling at her and grabbing her car. That wasn't part of the protest. Stop arguing about this. There was no justification for shooting her.
They are going to believe what they want, we can’t control that. We have to let go and wait for proper independent investigation to be done and court to decide. I’ll be buying a whistle to blow if I see ice near my home or anywhere else. And I’ll hide or run. We have all learned - ICE are criminals.
I think that it would also be fair to say that you should absolutely not trust anyone that supports this or is still openly maga. Not with your kids, not with your workplace, not with your parents or grandparents, and not with your money.
