I found this post after finding out that DD has decided to be Wicca after her friend talked her into it. I found them lighting candles (and accidentally burning a hole in the carpet in DD's room) and saying chants asking to become wealthy and popular. She painted a doormat with runes on it to "keep out evil spirits" and snuck out with her friend at a sleepover at the friend's house to go to some big Wicca gathering. Apparently there were lots of older women who were really interested in DD and friend and kept saying how they really wanted the girls to come back, they would look after them, etc etc. It seems creepy and invasive. I think it's just a phase that DD is going through but I'm not sure.
I think you should probably read about Wicca, and its various practices and practitioners (many of whom are not only sane and non-creepy, but deeply spiritual men and women) to not only help your daughter surround herself with healthy co-religionists but also to protect her from anyone who seems predatory. Because FTR, real Wiccans do not only do ritual in order to do prosperity magic. In fact you'll find that many of them do devotional work to the God and Goddess and leave the heavy ritual for specific parts of the year. It's not all about power and ego in witchcraft...far from it.
