Trump is now trying to walk back his lies about having met Putin and having face-to-face discussions with him. His dishonesty is compulsive and pathological.
Change that to HRC's dishonesty is compulsive and pathological and you would be accurate. Face it we have two candidates who both lie - Hillary does it intentionally and Trump, for the most part, does it because he has no filter between his mouth and his brain.
You give him too much credit. He is also plain dumb when it comes to political matters. I think a POTUS needs a filter, don't you? Isn't that why Biden kind of gets made fun of.. because he also sort of shoots his mouth off without thinking.
I agree with most of what you say. The issue is why he appeals so much to millions of Americans. And if you think it is racism, you are just plain wrong though I am sure that there are some who are racists. I say this because I know people who are voting for Trump and they are not racist by any stretch of the imagination. They are just disgusted with Hillary Clinton and the establishment and feel that something must be done to shake things up and they know that Hillary sure as hell will not do it. A couple of them actually voted for Obama. Until there is an an attempt to understand why these people find Trump appealing without attributing it to pat answers like uninformed voters and bigots, you and others will continue to be frustrated by his popularity.
But don't you think voting for someone who is not competent for the position simply for the purpose of change is dangerous? Some of his supporters are hoping that his advisers and other seasoned Repubs will reign him in, but as a POTUS, what he says on national TV and how he says it matters.
People who vote for him don't care. When you're that disgusted, you give up. Look at Europe. What was once an idyllic region - filled with different cultures with great vacationing spots - is now an area that makes travelers quiver. The Middle East is a hot mess, and the US is divided. There are race wars on this forum. And guess what? If enough people feel comfortable airing their true beliefs anonymously, just think about how this forum is a microcosm of our DC-Metro area. Imagine how many others are walking around hating each other. Whites hate blacks; blacks hate whites. Christians hate Muslims; Muslims hate Christians. People support Israel; people hate Israel. Women are dumb sluts; women have shattered the glass ceiling. It's a lone wolf; it's a crazy loner. I think about pulling the trigger all the time in that voting both in November. What does it matter? The world is a joke. But I know that in my heart, both candidates are the same. Trump is just an idiot. And Hillary, while intelligent, hasn't exactly made some smart moves, which makes me doubt her leadership. It's only a matter of time before "9-11" hits again. We're not safe, and neither candidate can keep us safe. You can't fight an ideology, which means talking won't get us anywhere. So people will opt for the candidate who makes it appear as though he can save the US. It just doesn't matter.
