Joe didn't dump her. She left him because he was a depressed man, and apparently very boring. She missed the fire and butterflies she felt with Matty Healy (“my wild boy and this wild joy”), so she ran to him straight out the slammer. Matty did dump her however because he couldn’t deal with her crazy fans and all the PR bs that comes with her.

THIS is what I can not imagine.  How she goes from deep conversations with another artist over writing lyrics, favorite musicians, music theory, guitar riffs and piano chords to….football? See the lyrics to Maroon and The Tortured Poets Department both widely accepted to be about Matty. Long nights, deep conversations, lots of red wine and chocolate. Travis has a lot of charisma but let’s face it, he is skin deep, a total dork and not very bright. They have zero in common. Not her intellectual equal. She’s going to lose her mind in boredom if she marries him. [/quote]
She probably has other people in her life who meet her musical connection needs. Like, a ton. A partner doesn't have to be all of the things. It is probably healthier if they are not. Also, along with the things you identify above that Matty brought came a lot of toxicity. I don't think Travis is skin deep compared to other pro athletes though. I mean he is no Ricky Williams but still. He is also not a dork and he has a high EQ. They have a lot in common - the important things that make for a good partner.
