She’ll get back with Matty at some point and in some fashion. Even if it’s many years from now, or secretly. This kind of decades long obsession doesn’t just die because the fans and your dad tell you you’re insane and scare him away. She chose that ending in the Fortnight video, in But Daddy I Love Him & in iamgonnagetyouback for a reason. He just needs to give her some opening, which I think eventually he will because he was obsessed with her too.

Taylor's brand will always come first. Whoever she's with will have to accept that. Travis accepts it (embraces it, even). Matty didn't or couldn't (and to be clear, I'm not saying he should).

Except he is a doofus, so I don’t see how she stays interested in him. Not convinced she ever was tbh. Both she and MH chose partners that were polar opposites of the other: he went for the cool, edgy, petite, goth chic, and she is dating the burly, goofy bear of a man. At least some of it must’ve been to make each other hurt and jealous. They jumped into these relationships a month or two after breaking up.
Except he’s a better match. She may be talented but she’s not very intelligent. Her father set her up for success. He’s the business brains behind the operation.

They both became famous young. I do think there is arrested development going on. Fingers crossed they grow up.

THIS is what I can not imagine. How she goes from deep conversations with another artist over writing lyrics, favorite musicians, music theory, guitar riffs and piano chords to….football? See the lyrics to Maroon and The Tortured Poets Department both widely accepted to be about Matty. Long nights, deep conversations, lots of red wine and chocolate. Travis has a lot of charisma but let’s face it, he is skin deep, a total dork and not very bright. They have zero in common. Not her intellectual equal. She’s going to lose her mind in boredom if she marries him.
She probably has other people in her life who meet her musical connection needs. Like, a ton. A partner doesn't have to be all of the things. It is probably healthier if they are not. Also, along with the things you identify above that Matty brought came a lot of toxicity. I don't think Travis is skin deep compared to other pro athletes though. I mean he is no Ricky Williams but still. He is also not a dork and he has a high EQ. They have a lot in common - the important things that make for a good partner.
