Silver Spring, while diverse with 33.5% White, 29.2% Black, 15.5% Hispanic, and 8.4% Asian residents, has higher poverty (10.5% vs. 3.4%) and crime rates (36 per 1,000 residents vs. 14 per 1,000) compared to Bethesda, which is predominantly White (74.3%). Silver Spring's median household income is significantly lower at $95,213 compared to Bethesda's $164,142. Additionally, the chances of becoming a crime victim in Silver Spring are 1 in 28, compared to 1 in 71 in Bethesda. While Silver Spring offers cultural diversity, Bethesda's economic stability, lower poverty, and crime rates make it a safer and more appealing area for many.
Seems like AI wrote this. Regardless, of course it’s true that if you compare any two areas in the country, the richer area will probably have less crime. As indicated above, Montgomery County gets an A+ for its low crime and not everyone wants to (or can afford to) live in Bethesda, so silver spring is a great choice for many people.
Not everybody but most people who can afford to. It’s not really a choice if you can’t afford better.
