I've got friends on both sides of this issue.  100% of the anti-masker families I know have already caught covid at least once.  Less than 50% of the people I know who voluntarily wear masks have had this supposedly "inevitable" disease.[/quote]

Yeah. Just anecdotal, obviously, but our family has strived to be diligent about masking and the other guidelines for the past 2 years, and none of us have gotten COVID. We do not eat out indoors, we do not use our gym membership currently, we wear masks in public, we got vaxxed as soon as eligible, etc. it does not feel like a huge sacrifice for us, and if everybody who could also did this, the pandemic would be over sooner.[/quote]

But it didn’t make any difference in the end. Covid is here to stay because of infections in mostly unvaccinated, developing countries. Your actions didn’t really make any difference. I mean, they kept you Covid-free (I’m assuming) which is great, for you, if that was your goal. But you staying home and giving up a lot of things that make life worth living didn’t meaningfully ease any societal burdens. [/quote]
