In my DS's fourth year class, the same kids who got into the very top law schools also got into UVA Law but then they had the LSAT and the GPA. Most pick UVA because, while still expensive, it's not quite as bad as Harvard and Duke, and also smaller than Harvard, Stanford, etc. IMHE those students from other Virginia institutions did not get in to VA Law if their GPA or LSAT was just a bit shy of the mark. In those cases, other state law schools or OOS privates picked them up.[/quote]
