My views don’t align with some of the loudest liberals. Look beyond the talking points, and understand we’re not all in agreement on everything. There’s no way I’ll vote for Trump, but I wasn’t thrilled about voting for Clinton in 2016.
Why? Because he’s a jerk? Aren’t most politicians? Because he’s dishonest? Aren’t most politicians dishonest? Ask yourself how things are going for you now and if you feel that his policies are working or not working.
+ a million. Most Americans live better today than in 2016. #Trump2020, and I do hope Dems regain their senses by 2024.
This is where I come down. Couldn't vote for him in 2016, thought the economy would tank and he'd be in way over his head. I'm concerned that he drives so many establishment types away, but undeniable that we are doing much better overall. So he has my vote.
Exactly. I hope the Dems can come back to their senses in 2024, but for now this ‘lost’ voter is #Trump2020 all the way. I didn’t vote for him in 2016, and really didn’t even give it a consideration. Now, he’s got my vote based on the economy and illegal immigration. Two important issues for me as a voter. I don’t care about his obnoxious personality. I don’t care about his Tweets. And I have lots of family overseas, who actually do like him and respect his aggressiveness. (Different cultures see this kind of male aggression and nationalism as more of a positive - I don’t agree, but it’s not true to say that the rest of the world doesn’t respect the US.)
Thanks for nothing. Your ignorance and those of people like you is destructive for this country. Not hyperbole. You buy the right wing propaganda about immigration. You don't care if the leader of our country is a corrupt jerk as long as your bank account is okay. Disgusting.
Nope. It's not propaganda when I see what illegal immigration is doing to my own community and schools. It's a concern. It may not be a concern for you because you're a wealthy Democrat. But, for some of us, illegal immigration affects our lives on a daily basis. And, I voted for Hillary, even though I also thought she was a corrupt jerk.
Actually, I am not a wealthy person. My neighborhood is full of recent immigrants. These are my neighbors. I would like to know specifically what concerns you have that you think Trump will address. Honestly asking.
Wait, I’m a democrat and I have to admit that Dems do this all the time: when someone says “illegal immigrant,” they think the person is talking about “immigrants.” Like PP just did above. We are a country of immigrants, so this is not the issue.
Th pp IS talking about immigrants. Literally none of the candidates are for illegal immigrants. And when someone says "I see what illegal immigration is doing to my own community and schools" they are talking about IMMIGRANTS. Believe it or not, they just know that they came here from another country, and their kids are English learners. They lump them in with people who have come illegally. Most likely their neighbors did not come illegally. Same for the people who have no problem with family separation at the border. They think the people are here illegally. THEY ARE NOT.
I’m the PP you’re responding to. I actually don’t think this is true. People separate illegal immigrants from legal immigrants, and treat them as different categories. In fact, many legal immigrants don’t like illegal immigrants.
No. When someone is complaining that their school has English language learners or their neighborhood has so many illegal immigrants, THEY DON'T KNOW THAT. THEY HAVE NO IDEA. They have a problem with IMMIGRANTS, and notably ones who are non-white and don't speak english at home. Schools DO NOT ASK for immigration standing. Neighbors don't know if their neighbor is here legally. And people have zero problems with immigrants who came from english speaking countries who overstayed their visas and now are here illegally. Over 100,000 CHILDREN OF LEGAL IMMIGRANTS have been separated from their parents at the border.
Actually, we do know. They're the families living in the crappy illegal rentals owned by slum landlords (often Asian landlords). I know because some of the families have kids that are the same age as my kids. They can't get a lease anywhere else, so they're stuck with the terrible rentals that are not even legal by the County's standards. They're also the families who will only work for cash. And, they're the families whose kids will say they 'don't know where they were born' because their parents have told them to say that. And also because in some areas, you still get to know your neighbors. Sorry that the PP lives in a neighborhood where she knows nothing about her neighbors. Sounds weird.
