My views don’t align with some of the loudest liberals. Look beyond the talking points, and understand we’re not all in agreement on everything. There’s no way I’ll vote for Trump, but I wasn’t thrilled about voting for Clinton in 2016.
Why? Because he’s a jerk? Aren’t most politicians? Because he’s dishonest? Aren’t most politicians dishonest? Ask yourself how things are going for you now and if you feel that his policies are working or not working.
+ a million. Most Americans live better today than in 2016. #Trump2020, and I do hope Dems regain their senses by 2024.
This is where I come down. Couldn't vote for him in 2016, thought the economy would tank and he'd be in way over his head. I'm concerned that he drives so many establishment types away, but undeniable that we are doing much better overall. So he has my vote.
Exactly. I hope the Dems can come back to their senses in 2024, but for now this ‘lost’ voter is #Trump2020 all the way. I didn’t vote for him in 2016, and really didn’t even give it a consideration. Now, he’s got my vote based on the economy and illegal immigration. Two important issues for me as a voter. I don’t care about his obnoxious personality. I don’t care about his Tweets. And I have lots of family overseas, who actually do like him and respect his aggressiveness. (Different cultures see this kind of male aggression and nationalism as more of a positive - I don’t agree, but it’s not true to say that the rest of the world doesn’t respect the US.)
Thanks for nothing. Your ignorance and those of people like you is destructive for this country. Not hyperbole. You buy the right wing propaganda about immigration. You don't care if the leader of our country is a corrupt jerk as long as your bank account is okay. Disgusting.
Nope. It's not propaganda when I see what illegal immigration is doing to my own community and schools. It's a concern. It may not be a concern for you because you're a wealthy Democrat. But, for some of us, illegal immigration affects our lives on a daily basis. And, I voted for Hillary, even though I also thought she was a corrupt jerk.
Actually, I am not a wealthy person. My neighborhood is full of recent immigrants. These are my neighbors. I would like to know specifically what concerns you have that you think Trump will address. Honestly asking.
Wait, I’m a democrat and I have to admit that Dems do this all the time: when someone says “illegal immigrant,” they think the person is talking about “immigrants.” Like PP just did above. We are a country of immigrants, so this is not the issue.
Th pp IS talking about immigrants. Literally none of the candidates are for illegal immigrants. And when someone says "I see what illegal immigration is doing to my own community and schools" they are talking about IMMIGRANTS. Believe it or not, they just know that they came here from another country, and their kids are English learners. They lump them in with people who have come illegally. Most likely their neighbors did not come illegally. Same for the people who have no problem with family separation at the border. They think the people are here illegally. THEY ARE NOT.
This is blatantly untrue. There are lots of candidates and people who are FOR illegal immigration. People from business owners, all the way down to ESOL teachers benefit from the influx of illegal immigration. Construction companies want the cheap labor to continue. Bethesda housewives want their cheap housekeepers. My neighbor is an ESOL teacher and she commented that she switched to ESOL because of the better hours, and she knows that she is in demand and needed in our school district. Hell, there are entire non-profits who have build (corrupt) businesses on the backs on illegal immigration - e.g. CASA de Maryland. There are more people in the US who want illegal immigration and benefit from it than who disapprove of it. Otherwise, how else does it flourish? And yes, those of us who live amongst illegal immigrants know their immigration status. It's not some nebulous idea, as it is for those of you whose neighborhoods are devoid of illegal immigrants.
Do tell. You know this... how? Did you go door to door to conduct document checks? Do your neighbors introduce themselves at block parties, etc. by saying "Hi, I'm Jose and I'm an Illegal Immigrant BWAAAHAHAHAHA!"? Did someone take out a billboard listing them? Are there regularly scheduled ICE raids on your block? Or do you hear an accent, maybe see a skin tone different than yours, and just ASSume?
