To be honest, in regards to this thread and all the ill-informed nasty holier-than-thou liberal comments, I think it's funny that Obama joined Columbia.  Columbia is traditionally a Catholic club, although times have changed, it continues to be very Catholic heavy and, as a result, more conservative politically than Chevy Chase Club (not to mention all the nasty Catholic haters must be dumb founded now as well). This is a perfect example of how times have changed and people become members of a club that they have lots of good true friends at - that is what plays a significant role in who is a perfect candidate (to answer an earlier question). It's not the color of your skin, your religion, your political leanings, instead it's a desire to join the club, an ability to pay, and having lots of good friends who are members (strong enough that they will take the time to write a letter in support of your membership).
