Because he doesn’t want to lose his law license by lying under oath. He was big mad with Wade and Willis, willing to help someone who wanted to take them down. Another theory.......
He knows good and well that the relationship between Wade and Willis started long before they testified.  And, all the information he gave to Merchant in the texts was true and accurate. 
But, he knows if he reveals the truth, he will be burning bridges and closing the door to work in Fulton County.  If he maintains the charade of pretending that he has no knowledge of their relationship, he may get work thrown at him from the DA's office.  [/quote]
