Or maybe he was lying to the defense attorney and had to recant what he texted because he actually was speculating. People who have issues with others can get caught up in the moment, but when you actually swear on a bible (or whatever) and are sitting in a witness stand, things can get very real. He had no proof and chose not to lie on the stand.
So, he lied about his friends and then tried to cover that up by claiming he was "speculating?" Things get real for sure. So, instead of admitting that he sent the texts and knew about the relationship well before March, 2022, he said, "he could not recall" or claimed to be "speculating." The state's attorney's and their friends seem like a bunch of crooked, unexperienced rubes.
The state's attorney? Have you lost track of who is who? This was supposed to be Merchant's best defense for her guilty guilty client, to disqualify the DA. But she was never going to be able to make it happen. There was never a conflict of interest. And the silly theory that she hired him to take her on cruises on the taxpayer's dime, well, that was always laughable.
May not have planned it, but that is what happened. Suspect the tax payers in Georgia are not pleased that it happened.
Lol no
