Has anyone noticed that there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to most of the decisions?
I think part of that is with only knowing GBRS and test scores there is no way to make a prediction. We are not seeing the whole file. There are a lot of work samples the school submits. There is a lot of commentary on the GBRS. I've talked to several 2nds grade teachers- those teachers absolutely know how to write a GBRS to convey whether the kids displays the traits the committee is looking for. There is information on what the kids DRA score is and whether they are getting pullouts in 2nd.
This, not 2 files are like even if they have the same test scores. There are other components we can't see on here and they can make the difference. Same is true for what appears to be a stronger file based on scores/GBRS. It may be weaker in other regards compared to a file with lower scores/GBRS. I know my AART commented on what great work samples we submitted and likewise, the school submitted 2 great ones for my daughter. I truly believe that made a difference as her scores were middle of the pack.
