15:59 is either a troll or the epitome of what's wrong with our culture.
15:59 here -- promise I'm not a troll. Just someone who is a bit jaded and trying to survive my own life without feeling like I should be my brother's keeper.
Just so you realize that if your kids were ever in an emergency situation, what would you HOPE a random mom passing by would do?
Yeah but that's just it -- I wouldn't view it as an emergency situation; no one is screaming, no one has fallen down etc. I'd walk by thinking -- 2 kids in the car, interesting -- I guess mom/dad just ran in to pick up the dry cleaning and didn't want to unstrap 2 kids. It wouldn't even occur to me that the kids had been there for more than a minute or that their parent wasn't just inside a store looking at the car through the window as they paid for their goods. So I wouldn't consider it my business. Now if I walked back and an hr later and saw them still there, maybe I'd think something was up -- but I'm not sure that I'd be motivated enough to get involved; I'd hope I'd call 911 and go on my way.
Well fortunately the woman who found them that evening didn't share your viewpoint. You sound a bit depressed or disconnected - most people don't have to hope they would call 911 if it bothered them, they would act.
They were gone for over ONE HOUR...and they only reason they left then was because the Police came and got them out. WTF???? It had to be cold as ball in that car. Those kids don't have verbal skill yet at that age. I have zero sympathy. If they had no sitter and wanted to do a tasting---they at least could have tag-team'd the event. They lived near-by. One run in and do it and then the next go in and taste. I used to freak out about my kids in a car in front of our rowhouse when I pulled up to unload groceries--do I leave kid in car in street---or do I bring him in and then get groceries. The amount of time these kids were left alone in a car on a city street while 2 adults went to drink wine---so unacceptable on so many levels.
