I think she wants to end it/her life. She seems ready to go. They gave her that super powerful oxy pill because they thought she was being discharged and would need a bridge until her morphine drip machine was delivered to her house. She may be trying to OD on purpose. Heart breaking.[/quote]

I'm not sure she isn't just going to ask to go into a residential hospice rather than hospice at home.  I think she's realizing she's more comfortable having nurses care for her than her family because of the professional boundaries.[/quote]

I really hope this isn't the story line they go with.  Unfortunately, I've taken care of many patients like her. Yes, sometimes abuse is present.  But to me, it seems more like the guilt I've seen a lot of patients have.  She hates that she's become someone he has to take care of.  She hates that she's lost so much of her autonomy (being unable to use the bathroom or get off the commode). She hates that her kids have not just seen the life go out of her, but also her husband.  She also may not necessarily want him there/the kids there/ be at home when she reaches that point of her disease.  [/quote]
