And there’s a gender issue too because how often does a man get to take 6 months or a year or 4 years off work, unpaid, just because his last job was a real grind or whatever and he needs a break? It irks me that many women apparently consider their careers optional in a way that men do not. I’m not telling you to do something different, OP. Im just saying that you’re making a choice that some people will judge but most will have the tact not to say out loud. I make choices other people judge quite regularly. But we need to own it and deal with the uncomfortable feelings that brings up for us, I think, rather than acting like it’s such a mystery that anyone would judge.[/quote]
