She was so obviously groomed and packaged and exploited by Doug and her mother - it was painful and even sometimes gross to watch, but I don’t get how anyone couldn’t muster compassion even in the face of some of Courtney’s more distasteful exhibitions.

I’m a John Legend fan, but didn’t know much of anything about his wife until her widely publicized miscarriage which I initially appreciated her for sharing, because still too many of us suffer alone without feeling we can discuss it. But after this revelation, I’m sickened and I feel sorry for her husband and kids. What kind of person thinks it’s edgy or cool to publicly post such vile things? And what kind of monster goes behind the scenes to urge a messed up teenager to kill herself?!

I don't remember that being the narrative about Courtney 10 years ago. There was some calling Doug a creep but she was subjected to a lot of the same toxic media as Britney Spears. What Chrissy did was bad but was not totally out of the norm for the time. [/quote]
