There would be very little reason to do summer swim then.  And club swimmers will probably opt out if they can have real meets elsewhere.  Swimming against someone makes for improvements. [/quote]

Agree with you that there is little point in doing swim season with virtual meets.  The whole point of summer swimming, IMO, is the team aspects.  Cheering on your teammates, yelling at the 8U anchor legs at the end of the meet to make up the difference, pep rallies, etc.. Take away all that and replace it with time trials every week, what’s the point?  Just cancel it again.  [/quote]

I agree that my whole family would miss the fun you reference - relays, crazy outfits, pasta dinners - but if the whole thing goes away I worry that our pool’s swim team will die.  While I would much prefer a regular season, a virtual season would provide for junior coaching opportunities, team records, new kids to fall in love with swim.  I hope they don’t cancel it outright when the PVS season points to a way to do things safely.[/quote]
