I'm thinking poster is referring to Powell when she says that new LAMB location will be close to another bilingual school.
I believe so, but the chances for attending one or the other is limited by one being and IB school and the other lottery. Although it's "new" location for LAMB may stray others from applying because of its location albeit not far from its existing one.
So the people who are clinging to SD... What if you'd been assigned to Missouri Avenue from the beginning (you don't apply to a campus with LAMB)?? What were you going to do when your child hit 4th grade (or 6th) and had to go to Walter Reed? As for demographics, the Annie E Casey Foundation has this tool which allows you to see racial and ethic demographic data for kids under the age of 5 by Ward. http://datacenter.kidscount.org/data/tables/8873-race-ethnicity-of-young-child-population-by-ward?loc=10&loct=21#detailed/21/1852-1859/false/573,869,36,868,867/3498,2161,2159,2157,2663,3499,3307,2160|/17759,17760 White children were the minority in both wards in 2015 (17% in Ward 5 and 26% in Ward 4). Latino students are a bigger demographic group in Ward 4 than Ward 5 (Ward 5 18.5%; Ward 4 30% ) and Black children are the dominant group in Ward 5 (63.2% in Ward 5 vs. 46.2% in Ward 4). It is also interesting to see this trend for the last 5 years. The percentage of young white children is increasing in both wards, and in Ward 4 the percentage of black and Latino children is holding steady. Latino children are gaining as a percentage of population in Ward 5 whilel the percentage of Black children is decreasing in Ward 5.
