Their individual actions really aren’t a big deal. People are responding to the relationship dynamic, which is going to be under intense scrutiny because of the whole found my one true love story they keep feeding the press at every opportunity. If they were just a normal chill couple it’s unlikely anyone would have noticed this. But they both have court at the press for years. And tried to sell a story that they want to control.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with Ben wanting to stay home. There’s also nothing wrong with Jennifer wanting her husband to support her at an important event. Where there is conflict is their relationship dynamic….Healthy couples would be able to work through this. I don’t want to go, but I know this is important to you, so I’ll go to this one and pull it together. Compromise. I know you don’t want to go, so stay home from this one, but it would be really great if you show up to the next one. Lots of different ways healthy couples could compromise with this type of scenario. It seems like they chose the passive aggressive route where he is there not clearly hates it and won’t hide it and she is pissed and nagging. [/quote]
