I saw this too. Nothing to see here. He was trolling the media knowing he was being made into a meme. Jen was apparently laughing and showing him the memes.

I’d be embarrassed too. It’s more a reflection on him though. He kept going.

This is way too much investment. A couple was having issues in public. It happens. Hopefully it’s not their norm.

Their individual actions really aren’t a big deal. People are responding to the relationship dynamic, which is going to be under intense scrutiny because of the whole found my one true love story they keep feeding the press at every opportunity. If they were just a normal chill couple it’s unlikely anyone would have noticed this. But they both have court at the press for years. And tried to sell a story that they want to control.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with Ben wanting to stay home. There’s also nothing wrong with Jennifer wanting her husband to support her at an important event. Where there is conflict is their relationship dynamic….Healthy couples would be able to work through this. I don’t want to go, but I know this is important to you, so I’ll go to this one and pull it together. Compromise. I know you don’t want to go, so stay home from this one, but it would be really great if you show up to the next one. Lots of different ways healthy couples could compromise with this type of scenario. It seems like they chose the passive aggressive route where he is there not clearly hates it and won’t hide it and she is pissed and nagging.

She lives in her own bubbled reality, moreso than I think most other celebrities, which says something. Her beauty and success are externals, who she is inside is anyone's guess but actually I don't think she could pick anyone and I also don't think she is a particularly healthy, flexible, emotionally aware person who can let go of things or ideas or ambitions easily.. You know like the rest of us mere mortals who live in reality, which includes losses, and pain and aging. Affleck broke her heart and she saw an opportunity to undo it and be "renewed" by the new fabulous love story. She will hold on for dear life until her bubble bursts. And that will be deeply sad for her. She has a lot of mental health issues, evidenced by her need for control and her chaotic track record in relationships. (A history of intense panic, anxiety, probably ocd/perfectionism, depression, etc) But her persona and her flash cover it over. I see her as quite vulnerable

Then he shouldn’t go. He’s not a trained seal, correct. So instead of going and making a “statement” by being obviously bored and uninterested and somewhat standoff-ish to his new wife, he could have stayed home and let her go solo or with a friend/family member who might have enjoyed themselves.

the appeal is pretty obvious. he dumped her, married someone else, and this is like him saying "I made the mistake by marrying Jennifer garner. I've never stopped loving you. I've been in love with you for all these years. You are the most incredible woman of them all".

it makes perfect sense. I mean, I even get that part. what I don't get why can't she just enjoy the relationship and not make it so performative.
