Robinson and Woodson along with Battlefield, Oakton, Madison are elite teams loaded with talent with one of these five most likely winning a State Championship. Any other teams that compete with any of these five and keep it close is a very good public high school team. It would be like say Boston College is not very good as a D1 team just because they lost by 12 to Northwestern. Really good teams lose games too relative to all levels of play.
I think one thing we've seen this year, is that the talent level in VHSL Class 6A is a lot deeper overall. Just look at public vs private matchups across the board. a number of the area publics hang with area privates (I am not saying they are better overall, just that publics do better today than they have over the years - and yes, I realize that the overall talent in high school may not be what it used to). We are seeing a lot more competitive games among top Class 6 teams, where any number of teams can beat others in a given game. Ultimately a rising tide should left all boats and it will help the development of area lacrosse and players.
Best post of the night !!!
