No doubt, the worse parent behavior is brought out in the younger age groups, 9-12 but especially during the 9-10 years. I found Championship meets with 15 and over way more relaxing in the stands than 14U Champs where some parents are absurdly out of control thinking their now 10 year old is destined for Trials (and not fully understanding the longevity of the sport and clueless how many 10 year old champs fade into oblivion post puberty years).

Look closely at meets with really talented swimmers-you'll often find the parents sitting quietly in the corner of the natatorium, unassuming, and often appearing in the stands right before their kid swims and then immediately departing...especially during prelims. [/quote]
