That’s pretty egregious OP. Never seen anything like that in all my years as a swim mom.

It would be one thing, if for example, I saw a new team parent lose their way and accidentally try to enter the locker room instead of the adult restroom at a meet - I would just gently remind them and point them in the right direction.

What OP observed doesn’t sound like it would be safe to approach that person and I would immediately bring it up to the coach.

Sounds like McCrazys husband. He’s known for curse at children. . .

My oldest was a college swimmer; two younger kids did summer swim. I've never seen anything like that. Talk to the coach.

Sadly, every PVS team has at least one family-if not a handful-who hyperventaliate about having their kid(s) focus on beating other teammates. Every team has them and generally most families know exactly who they are. That being said, I've never heard of a family being so publicly blatant about it at a swim meet.

No doubt, the worse parent behavior is brought out in the younger age groups, 9-12 but especially during the 9-10 years. I found Championship meets with 15 and over way more relaxing in the stands than 14U Champs where some parents are absurdly out of control thinking their now 10 year old is destined for Trials (and not fully understanding the longevity of the sport and clueless how many 10 year old champs fade into oblivion post puberty years).

Look closely at meets with really talented swimmers-you'll often find the parents sitting quietly in the corner of the natatorium, unassuming, and often appearing in the stands right before their kid swims and then immediately departing...especially during prelims.

Seems like a few of these parents have found this thread.

Is that your takeaway? That the faster kid was probably an a-hole who was bullying the new kid? I’m pretty sure every parent, coach and child who saw this spectacle had a different idea of who the real a-hole was.

This response is so ridiculous I think you must be joking. You think a valid response to a bully is for an adult to scream that he's an a-hole from the stands in the middle of a swim meet? That's hysterical.

All for jerk kids being taught a lesson. But probably not an opposing parent’s spot to do so. If it was kids pushing back I wouldn’t have an issue.

You can't be serious? It is never OK for an adult to call a kid names, no matter what. Be the adult and model the behavior we want to see in the next generation. Model better.
