I suspect he already drives her crazy privately. She has always believed mightily in her own mind, will, and power to "manifest" . She has omnipotent fantasies and has for years, but the success and drive and control that took her to the top cannot In fact make her partners stay sober or strong or faithful. But she doesn't accept this on an, emotional level. She's a slow learner that way, and she has held on to romantic fantasies with an iron grip, for reasons that are unknowable to the rest of us. Obviously being alone and not having a man is extremely uncomfortable and probably deeply threatening to her. Why, I don't know.
She's obviously not going to get what she wants out of this relationship, no matter how strong her will. But I can't see her letting him go. The only thing I can see happening is him falling very publicly and messily off the wagon, even if they have to pretend. He'll go to rehab, she'll support him, they'll drift apart, and she'll pretend this whole second chance relationship and marriage never happened.
