You do sound mean OP. I used to be hot and now I'm 50 pounds overweight. My DH is still hot...he didn't have a baby! Don't judge too harshly...it may be you someday.
Oh, I want to be understanding. Aging, pregnancy, metabolism, and life generally have a way of taking a toll on our bodies. But, come on, you didn't have a 50 pound baby!
It's the lack of sleep for years after giving birth, running a household and often, having a full time career on top of all that, that adds stress, cortisol and weight gain.
That'll do it.
Hmmm. No, it won't. Extra calories will do it. I have weight to lose so I get it but, stop with the excuses. Weight gain/loss is a simple concept.
I'm the PP who made the 50 pound baby remark; but now I have to go the other way. Weight gain and loss isn't necessarily all that simple. People burn and store calories at different rates and, to make matters worse, people's bodies react differently to a reduction in calories. I'm relatively skinny and can eat health food, junk food, lots of food, not much food-- doesn't matter, my weight remains stable within about 3 or 4 pounds. Meanwhile, my wife exercises relentlessly and watches what she eats closely, and the pounds are remarkably stubborn. So, there are more variables at work than just caloric input.
