Sounds like some Dem centrists are coming to their senses. Most likely it’ll be a last second compromise and no shutdown.
Link? From what I’ve read there’s no time for that.
This is always theatre. Stop being played. They have more than enough time for a deal.
I would have agreed with you back in March...but now Schumer feels like he was played when he made that deal. Facing an angry base and a potential primary challenge from his left I don't see any compromise.
Schumer is making the decision to let federal workers go without pay for a few months vs. many millions of Americans going without health care coverage. The Feds are a smaller contingent, so they are going to bear the brunt of this. God speed everyone.
Nah. It's a stupid play. The subsidies and other cuts haven't happened yet. They aren't going to get the credit they think.
4 million Americans lose their subsidies on January 1st. It’s already raising insurance premiums as companies plan for the worst.
Yes. But it hasn't happened yet. Nobody ever gets credit for stopping something that might happen in the future. It's way too inside baseball.
Agree with this take. People won't get it. Americans don't pay enough attention and it is way too nuanced for people to easily understand. They won't understand until it actually happens and they suddenly can't afford healthcare.
