Trump can order RIFs at any time; threatening it now is just a tactic he is using because he is unwilling/incapable of actually negotiating — so much for the Art of the Deal. Remember, Trump is the one that ordered the RIFs if the Dems didn’t acquiesce, and since there are many options for negotiation that he chooses not to take, then Trump owns the fallout.

I will be directly affected by a shutdown and maybe even the RIFs. I support a shutdown because I am tired of going through this exercise multiple times a year. I want to see our government work as it was intended, via compromise.
