I think you’re lying. If you were truly a recent immigrant you’d know that immigrants are not ‘criminals’, they are those fleeing poverty and war and seeking a better life, just as you did. And my great grandparents did. My great grandfather was illegal. [/quote]

I am an immigrant, though not recent. And I did NOT make the claim all immigrants are criminals so not sure where that assumption came from? I am specifically about immigrants who are criminals, which is obviously not most (not sure why anyone would think I would think that?!). They hurt immigrant and poor communities the most.[/quote]

You specifically mentioned ‘criminals’ because that’s the buzz word you want people to think of when they think of immigrants. And it’s just not accurate. The vast vast majority are law abiding and just want a chance to work and they are not stealing jobs or eating pets.

I mentioned criminals because as an immigrant myself I would NEVER think of immigrants as a whole as criminals. I do think, and it's insane to me that this would be controversial, we should vet people's criminal backgrounds when they come in, as is done for legal immigrants. How is this remotely controversial?
