Any pregnant woman, who has announced her pregnancy, who is nevertheless offended at being congratulated on her pregnancy (whether or not the word “bump” is used is irrelevant) is not mature enough to be a mother. Hopefully for her children’s sake Lively has grown the hell up since this interview. As to her opinions on sexism, fashion, rude behavior, and Woody Allen films, I think the obvious explanation is that Blake Lively is simply unintelligent.
I do think Lively is pretty dumb. This is often a problem with celebrities-- many got rich and famous because of looks, charisma, or connections. A lot if them are dumb as bricks. But they are also powerful because of their fame and money. It's a bad combo.
They’re not academics, so they’re not required to be intelligent. They’re paid because they’re good looking, charismatic, and generally good at their craft (acting, singing, designing, whatever..). I mean, some ARE “book smart” on top of having talent in other areas, but if they didn’t have talent, then they’d be teaching lectures on mid century English literature, right? Aside from that, I can’t believe than in 2024, people are still somehow defending the right to comment on women’s bodies just because they’re pregnant. Can you imagine every meeting you went into for your entire pregnancy, that everyone commented on your body instead of listening to what you have to say? I know that some women feel being pregnant is the most interesting thing they’ll ever do, but that’s not everyone. And given how private Lively is when pregnant, she doesn’t seem to be one of those women. The fact that she shot down so many interviewers over it while pregnant means they’re the really stupid ones for continuing to go down that road with her.
I can’t wait until the trend to be ridiculously over dramatic about normal human interactions (example in bold) goes away. It must be absolutely exhausting to be offended so easily.
