As to her opinions on sexism, fashion, rude behavior, and Woody Allen films, I think the obvious explanation is that Blake Lively is simply unintelligent.
Bump is irrelevant… because you said so? Nope. Doesn’t work that way. I’m more worried about the interviewer who seems like her life has been derailed over one bad interview this long ago than Blake. Has she gotten help to get over this tragedy?

I do think Lively is pretty dumb. This is often a problem with celebrities-- many got rich and famous because of looks, charisma, or connections. A lot if them are dumb as bricks. But they are also powerful because of their fame and money. It's a bad combo.
They’re not academics, so they’re not required to be intelligent. They’re paid because they’re good looking, charismatic, and generally good at their craft (acting, singing, designing, whatever..).
I mean, some ARE “book smart” on top of having talent in other areas, but if they didn’t have talent, then they’d be teaching lectures on mid century English literature, right?
Aside from that, I can’t believe than in 2024, people are still somehow defending the right to comment on women’s bodies just because they’re pregnant. Can you imagine every meeting you went into for your entire pregnancy, that everyone commented on your body instead of listening to what you have to say?
I know that some women feel being pregnant is the most interesting thing they’ll ever do, but that’s not everyone. And given how private Lively is when pregnant, she doesn’t seem to be one of those women. The fact that she shot down so many interviewers over it while pregnant means they’re the really stupid ones for continuing to go down that road with her.

So literally she preps for roles thinking about fashion. But don’t talk to her about fashion I guess cause it’s sexist or something.
Make it make sense.
It's just exactly the sort of thing a narcissist would do, right? Make other people feel crazy by putting them in this impossible situation of demanding they pay attention to, and remark on, every thing you do - while at the same time, being totally volatile and unpredictable about what will set you off.
Imagine pregnant women with raging hormones being unpredictable. Who knew?
Do you really want to go in that direction? That's the line of argument used to say that women shouldn't hold positions of power.
And even if that is the reason, Blake Lively could have apologized - which (to the best of my knowledge) she has not done.
+1
I am a HS teacher who taught from 3 months pregnant until a week before I gave birth. You don’t think the students I taught said nasty things ever? I held my tongue and controlled my ‘raging hormones’. Because I’m an effing adult.
Right but we give leeway to people all the time. Parent died? Sick kid? Divorce? Cancer? Illness? Surgery? We do it alll the time. Women don’t need to pretend to be superhuman while pregnant lest they be considered weak and ineffectual or unqualified because people can’t handle it.
If she'd apologized later, and said she had this outburst because she was exhausted from pregnancy, we'd be having a totally different conversation.

Anonymous wrote:Calling it a "little bump" was mildly annoying and it's fine to bristle at it. But that does not justify Lively's behavior in the interview -- she went nuclear on what was essentially a faux pas committed by someone conducting an interview in her non-native language. Lively's response was way over the top.
The interviewer was there specifically to discuss the fashion in a period film. So Lively getting upset that the first question was about the film's costuming makes NO SENSE. It was not a general interest interview about the project. It was a fashion reporter who was there to discuss the fashion in the movie. When Lively says "would you ask the male actors about this" and the reporter says "yes" -- that was an honest and true answer. She's there to discuss the fashion in a movie with fantastic fashion (and which was otherwise not a particularly interesting or memorable movie). Lively was totally out of line on that.
Also the idea of an actress trying to take a feminist stand against another woman while promoting a Woody Allen movie is ironic at best and offensive at worst. Would Lively have preferred that the interviewer ignore her pregnancy but ask her how she can work with someone who has such a sketchy history in his treatment of women both professionally and in his personal life? Fixating on the "little bump" comment while ignoring that is crazy to me. I don't get being on Lively's side here even if you are very sensitive to how women's bodies are discussed. Allen is a freaking pedophile.
