I absolutely agree. When I lived in NC, I had a coworker who was summoned not for jury duty, but to be part of a panel of citizens that was supposed to tour a local jail and then report their findings of the conditions in which the prisoners were held. Afterwards, she went on and on, making a big deal out of how awful jail is, just a wretched place, the last place you’d ever want to be. I asked her if her panel had stressed that in their findings, and she snapped at me, “It’s jail; it’s not supposed to be nice!”[/quote]
