Sure they both did something careless. But the family wants to blame someone, and blaming a stranger is [i]much [/i]easier than blaming a relative. So if you as the relative are responsible some people feel that is punishment enough. I think it's a greater degree of agony. You might feel horrible about killing someone you didn't know, but devastated if you killed your granddaughter and have to see her parents all of the time with everyone knowing you were responsible. Now you tell me why it's the same. [/quote] No, if you kill someone you kill someone. Good thing the police know that and decide who to charge. Grandfather was negligent and was charged. Driver was negligent and SHOULD be charged. [/quote]
